Nick has been advising on various tax matters for the past fifteen years, and has throughout this time worked for tax practices focusing on a wide range of commercial and tax-related problems. He is currently the joint-owner and managing director of Kibworth Tax Services Limited.
As an economics graduate, a Fellow of the Association of Tax Technicians and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nick has shown throughout his career that he has the ability to keep abreast of the latest thinking in tax, ensuring that clients are best served through access to the best, most up-to-date practical advice.
That advice has recently focused on assisting both landlords and their accountants across the full spectrum of challenges that they currently face. Whether dealing with the incorporation of property-rental partnerships, or assisting with trust structures to safeguard assets for future generations, good, practical advice has seen both clients and their advisers fully achieve their tax-related and commercial objectives.
Indeed, helping landlords with their many concerns has also seen Nick invited to present on various tax matters to the Leicester Landlords Association, and in general to other tax conferences.
Nick has also held a long-term interest in resolving Stamp Duty Land Tax problems. Following its introduction in 2003, the many recent updates and extensions to this tax (increasing both its scope, and the tax-receipts raised) have left clients requiring clear guidance to help them navigate this ever more complex area of legislation, avoiding often unintentional tax charges.
Having been involved with the tax since its introduction, Nick is able to provide bespoke resolutions to the many and varied issues this legislation gives rise to.

Dougal has been involved in tax since 1973 when he joined HMRC as a direct entrant Inspector of Taxes. He qualified as a fully trained Inspector and, although it is many years since he left HMRC, he still finds the experience valuable in understanding HMRC’s approach to matters and, normally, in forming good relationships with them in negotiations.
Having completed his HMRC training, he then joined what is now KPMG to train as a chartered accountant in 1979 and duly qualified 3 years later. In 1985 he became a partner in KPMG and had 13 years as senior tax partner in KPMG’s Leicester office where, in between dealing with multi-national and quoted clients, he learned a great deal about entrepreneurs, their companies and their needs.
In April 1998 he set up his own practice to assist local entrepreneurs and provide high quality advice to them. He has worked in that area ever since with a growing specialisation in Inheritance Tax but still with a broad general portfolio of corporate and personal tax matters.
Although now enjoying semi-retirement, one of his specialist areas remains helping to unravel older tax-schemes that were set up in the noughties and are now deemed by HMRC as being unlikely to work. The work he has done in that area often involves detailed negotiations with HMRC but there are other options available.
